eatable, edible

这一对词都可以用作形容词和名词，都有“可吃的”词义，但涵义有细微的差异。
eatable: 源出于古英语etan；表示“可吃的”、“能吃的”，但“可吃”、“能吃”并不等于“食物可口和好吃”，例如食品不够新鲜或烧得太生太熟时，也是 something eatable.

• these bananas are over-ripe but they are eatable.
  这些香蕉长得太熟，可是还是可以吃的。
• this food is scarcely eatable.
  这种食物难以咽下。

edible: 源出于拉丁语edibilis.着重表示“本来不是食物，但吃下去也无害”之意。
